Fall 2010 Activities
Fall is officially here and the greater D.C. area is hosting a number of events fit for the entire family. Weekends will be packed full of pumpkin picking, hayrides and petting farms. Check out some of the below events which are located throughout Maryland.
Agricultural History Farm Park
(18400 Muncaster Rd; Derwood, Maryland)
The Agricultural Harvest Festival will be hosted in Montgomery County for this fun two day affair which will feature crafts, hay mazes, live musical entertainment, hayrides, fair food and much more.
Butler’s Orchard
(Weekends throughout October; 10a.m.-5p.m.; 22200 Davis Mill Road; Germantown, Maryland)
Butler Orchard will be holding the Annual Pumpkin Festival throughout select weekends in October where the entire family can enjoy food, crafts and activities that are perfect to enjoy the beautiful outdoors.
Sharp’s at Waterford Farm
(Mid September-Mid November; 4003 Jennings Chapel Road; Brookeville, Maryland)
Campfires, hayrides, mazes, pumpkin picking and more!
Gaver Pumpkin Patch
(Late September- October; 10a.m.-6p.m.; 5501 Detrick Road; Mt. Airy, Maryland)
The Gaver Pumpkin Patch is an exciting location for visitors of all ages and features unique attractions like a pirate ship, toddler corn maze, “Casey the Cow” corn maze and a giant straw mountain!
Summers Farm
(September 25- November 2, 2010; 5614 Butterfly Lane; Frederick, Maryland)
The Pumpkinland festival is one of the largest Fall festivals in Maryland and features barnyard petting zoos, corn mazes, crafts, food and slides.
Jumbo’s Pumpkin Patch
(Daily from September 18- October 31, 2010; 6p.m.; 6521 Holter Rd.; Middletown, Maryland)
This pumpkin patch allows visitors to pick their own pumpkins, get rides on ponies and in haywagons, paint their faces and trek through corn mazes.
Hispanic Heritage Month in Washington D.C.
National Hispanic Heritage Month will be taking place in Washington, D.C. rom September 15th- October 15th, 2010. The celebration includes a number of events including festivals, gallery exhibits, dance demonstrations, food tastings and much more. Come out and celebrate the Hispanic culture from all over the world.
Latino Festival – Fiesta D.C.
(September 26, 2010)
The Latino Festival will be taking place on the downtown streets of D.C. and features a children’s festivals, delicious international cuisine and a parade.
Fiesta Musical at the National Zoo
(September 19, 2010, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.)
The National Zoo will be hosting Fiesta Musical where there will be traditional dance performances and a celebration with the animals as well as great food and music. Bring out the entire family for this fun event!
Hispanic Heritage Month at the National Museum of American History
(Through the month of September)
The Smithsonian Museum will be honoring Hispanic Heritage Month by showcasing the amazing exhibit “The Mexican Revolution: American Legacy” which gives visitors a view into the immigrants who traveled to The United States following The Mexican Revolution.
Hispanic Heritage Month at the National Gallery of Art
(September 15 – October 15, 2010)
AFI Latin American Film Festival
(September 21- October 13, 2010; AFI Silver Theater and Cultural Center; Silver Spring, MD)
The annually held AFI Latin American Film Festival will feature some of the best films from Latin America, Portugal, Spain and beyond. There will be over 30 films hailing from 18 countries worldwide.
International Festival of Hispanic Theater
(October 19- November 27, 2010; Gunston Arts Center, Theatre Two; 2700 S. Lang St., Arlington, VA)
The Gunston Arts Center in Arlington, Virginia will be hosting world renowned theatre troupes from Spain and Latin America.
